The media could not be loaded. I’ve been handed the task to recommend inexpensive laptops that can be used by children in the family for distant learning. After considering the budget, flexibility, features, upgradability, form factor, and ease of use, I decided to buy this BMAX MaxBook X13A. It is just right for our needs. The package is surprisingly well thought off, securely packed with minimal branding. Inside the box is just the laptop, a power supply with interchangeable sockets, and user manual. This laptop is very light, something that reminds me of the MacBook Air. It feels good to carry and has a premium feel in it. The chassis is a combination of aluminum and plastic with a unibody design. I love that there is an access door for easy M.2 (2242) SSD upgrade, I was able to upgrade the drive for just around 5 minutes. There is no option to upgrade the RAM, just onboard memory without any extra slots. So, the 4GB memory is just barebone to get you going for casual office tasks and online browsing. Be aware that at first boot, Windows will apply a lot of major updates, it will take a while to finish these major updates and I suggest to just let it finish to avoid frustration. Once the updates are all done, the computer feels quick and snappy. I installed a free Office Suite (LibreOffice) and it works surprisingly fast. Other apps like GIMP (photo editor), Inkscape, Dia, and Darktable all worked smoothly. Although Google Chrome works fine, I suggest using other browsers like Microsoft Edge or Firefox to avoid having issues with lack of memory. I removed the entire bottom cover to check out the hardware (warning: this will void the warranty). Under the hood has a 34.96Wh battery, which should be enough to last around 6 hours on a dual core cpu. It also has a massive heatsink for passive cooling, so this means the bottom may get a little hot (which is normal for passive cooling). I wish there was an extra memory slot for upgradability, but there is none. I will not bore you with benchmarks and numbers, but rather a real day to day experience. For Office applications, this laptop performs very well. It can handle multi-tasking with 2 to 3 office apps open without any problem. The screen is also perfect for media consumption. It is non-reflective which is great to watch movies on different angles, no glare or light reflections. The keyboard has a nice tactile feedback and very enjoyable to type on. I like that the touchpad is a little large and smooth to use, no need to bring an external mouse. The speakers and mic are ok, not great, but good enough to hear what you need to hear. Using a Bluetooth headset will definitely make a big difference. I have also installed Linux (LinuxMint) on this laptop just prior to writing this review. All hardware were detected fine, and definitely performs more snappy than Windows. Overall, I am very impressed with this laptop, it has a premium feel and performs very well on casual office tasks. I strongly recommend using Linux on this laptop for a more robust performance. If you are looking for a budget laptop to accomplish casual tasks, this laptop is a very great option. Highly recommended.

It was quite easy and straight forward to set-up the Windows 10 PRO edition. It came with a Chrome browser and anti virus and firewall, so when I connected it to the internet, everything was secured. Browsing in the internet works pretty well and normal e-mail management as well. I've also installed open office and I'm writing lots of documents and there are no performance issues at all. Just to have too many open tabs in the browser at the same time can slow down the PC a bit. It gets a bit warm on the right side of the keyboard, probably where the CPU is located, but there's no real throttling I've noticed so far. I can even run Google Earth or Google Maps in 3D. Sometimes with some minor lags, but it works. I've even been able to play a 3D online shooter game and I've won one party. Quite nice for an Apollo lake implementation with 4GB RAM. After doing all the Win 10 updates and installing all my software there's about 20GB of storage left, so I decided now to add an additional 128GB micro SD card for further programs or lots of data, pictures and videos. It's really convenient to have this micro SD card slot already built in for storage expansion. My computer mouse was instantly detected. The keyboard is comfortable to type even some longer text. The screen has a superb high 1080p resolution, high brightness and a large viewing angle with almost 180 degrees. Wireless reception is stable all the time even with the router quite far away. Speaker is quite OK and can be adjusted from the FN keys up to quite loud levels. Watching YouTube in full HD is absolutely no problem. Battery lasts up to about 7 hours, it's very light and beautiful. Very happy with it.

I waited several (8) months to do a review on this device so I could be as accurate as possible. It's a pretty decent computer for what it is and the price. It's rather slow playing Minecraft, but since the main reason I purchased the computer was for homeschooling my son, I can say it does what it needs to and what it was purchased to do. I officially have 2 complaints about it though. The first is the lesser, it has a passive cooling system that doesn't really work - no fans and it gets HOT. Hot enough to actually burn my son's skin one day when he placed it on his lap. We have since gotten a fan driven cooling tray for it. My second and biggest complaint is the battery. It literally has to be plugged up 100% of the time or it shuts down. For instance, my son needed clarification for something today for school - he unplugged the computer, brought it over to the other side of the room to me at 100% battery, and after about 4-5mins of working together it shuts down because the battery is dead. There is also no way to replace the battery that I can see.

Only issue...what's with company logo dead center in laptop NEVER goes away even when webpages are open or reading emails, watching youtube, etc. (OKAY MY BIG OOPS! REMOVE THE PLASTIC FILM WHICH HAS LOGO ON IT!😜LAPTOP IS QUITE PERFECT INDEED! BUT you do have to sign up with a credit card to use MS but not necessary if you use to save all types of files, pdf, photos etc and you can set up access to use on any other device like phone.)

Not a great system. Better than nothing but would have been better to spend a little more for somethong else. Has issues booting up, screen sometimes just flickers. Runs really slow.

If you have patience, this is a good value. OS is slow, constantly updating or processing.
